Brief Description

We are seeking an experienced Museum Project Manager to advance Al Shindagha Museum’s mission of inspiring, motivating, and engaging its visitors while making learning extraordinary for diverse audiences. As the most senior staff member, you will lead the museum’s strategy and operations, driving its growth, income generation, and long-term resilience. You will oversee commercial operations, ensure excellence across all museum functions, and uphold professional standards in every aspect of the museum.

This role calls for an inspiring, energetic, and visionary leader with a proven track record in strategic leadership, operational management, and service transformation within large and dynamic teams. You will bring a collaborative and proactive approach to team management, fostering a positive team culture while aligning with clearly defined objectives.

Responsibilities 
Strategic Leadership
  • Build and maintain a strong professional relationship with the client, including preparing reports and attending key client meetings.

  • Delegate effectively, empowering team members and supporting their development to achieve both individual and organisational goals.
  • Develop, manage, and implement project schedules while liaising with stakeholders as necessary.
  • Support the strategic development of museum operations and programmes, building relationships with stakeholders to enhance the museum’s profile and offerings.
  • Continuously review internal processes to ensure efficiency and alignment with best practices.
  • Stay updated on global museum standards and best practices, representing the museum at relevant conferences and events.
Financial Leadership
  • Oversee and manage project budgets, ensuring accurate tracking, forecasting, and reporting of expenditures.?
Organisational Leadership
  • Provide dynamic and visible leadership across all teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Ensure all staff feel motivated, valued, and supported and have access to training and development opportunities to thrive in their roles.
  • Uphold organisational policies and standards, ensuring staff are well-versed in expectations and guidelines.
Cultural Programming Leadership
  • Lead and inspire teams to deliver world-class public, community, and educational programming, ensuring offerings align with the museum’s mission and objectives.
  • Oversee the delivery of the museum’s annual festivals in collaboration with the creative programming team.
  • Demonstrate a deep passion and understanding of Emirati heritage and culture, embedding and ensuring these values are incorporated into all aspects of museum programming.
Representing the Museum
  • Serve as the museum’s public face, confidently articulating its vision and purpose to various audiences.
  • Advocate for the museum on national and international platforms, helping to raise its profile and visibility.
Requirements
Education and Experience
  • A relevant qualification in museum studies, heritage, arts, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in a cultural, heritage, or arts setting, with expertise in leading teams and overseeing complex operational processes.
Leadership Skills
  • Proven experience in senior leadership roles within heritage or arts organisations.
  • Ability to set and drive strategic objectives, in collaboration with the Country Manager and client, to achieve the museum’s mission and goals.
  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to motivate, attract, and retain high-calibre individuals and teams.
  • A collaborative and empathetic leadership style, fostering a culture of teamwork and pride.
Communication Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the museum at the highest levels.
  • Confidence in advocating for the museum’s mission, expanding awareness of its unique cultural and heritage themes.
Management Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage integrated operations.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in managing budgets and ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Attention to detail across all aspects of the museum’s operations, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Other Specific Requirements
  • Passion for and knowledge of Emirati heritage and culture.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Dubai, with flexibility for occasional weekend and evening work is a must.
