In November 2018, BASF supported the first Solar Decathlon competition held in the Middle East. This global student competition, originally hosted by the US Department of Energy, challenges engineering and architecture students to build the most energy-efficient model house powered by solar energy.
Key Contributions:
- Knowledge Partner: BASF organized 20 workshops for visiting high school students.
- Workshops: Focused on energy insulation and efficiency, teaching students how to keep homes cool and save energy.
- Hothouse Challenge: Explored insulation materials and techniques, demonstrating heat transfer reduction through conduction, convection, and radiation.
- Clever Foodies Challenge: Inspired students to pursue sciences, particularly chemistry and material sciences, by testing and measuring vitamin C content in fruits and vegetables. Talents UAE adapted and delivered this workshop across 10 schools in and around Dubai
