Al Shindagha Museum

A world class museum committed to celebrating, exploring, and educating people about the Emirati cultural heritage. Set along the iconic waters of Dubai Creek, it tells the story of the emirate’s rich legacy and dramatic transformation from a fisherman’s village to an ultra-modern metropolis.

The museum boasts 22 carefully curated pavilions spread over 80 houses within the district, reach regularly offering public and educational programmes for families, students, and private groups. Amongst these houses is the Al Maktoum Residence, one of the most prominent heritage sites that explores the erstwhile royal residence of His Highness Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, the former Ruler of Dubai. Featuring interactive technology installations, the museum also brings history and artefacts to life through an immersive multimedia experience. Its team of local and multilingual cultural guides reflects the warm Emirati hospitality by welcoming visitors from all over the world.

Al Shindagha Days

Al Shindagha Days is Al Shindagha Museum’s most significant annual event, designed to bridge the gap between Emiratis, residents, and tourists by showcasing rich Emirati heritage through various activities. By offering our services, we ensured that Al Shindagha Days successfully brought together people from all walks of life, offering them a unique opportunity to explore and celebrate Emirati heritage in an interactive and enjoyable manner.

Hag Al Leila

Hag Al Leila is a cherished tradition in the UAE, celebrated before Ramadan. Children dress in traditional costumes, singing songs, and reciting poetry as they go door-to-door in their neighborhoods. Talents UAE collaborated with Al Shindagha Museum to bring this event to life. Our role encompassed conceptualizing, planning, promoting, and marketing it, ensuring it resonated with the community and aligned with Dubai Culture’s vision.

Ramadan

Ramadan Nights offered a range of family and adult activities that celebrated the role clothing, food, perfume, jewelry, traditional games and Ramadan Bu Tebaila walk-through during the holy month of Ramadan. Through collaborations with a range of Emirati homegrown businesses enhanced with a high-quality shopping and food offer, Ramadan Nights demonstrated Al Shindagha Museum’s excellence as a place for evening events, with a focus on authentic Emirati Heritage.

Summer Blessings

Summer Blessings Summer is a challenging season in the region; however, despite the hardships, it is celebrated for being the season of the tree of life: the palm tree. This season is characterized by the nation’s resilience and ingenuity, which influences many aspects of life such as food, crafts, architecture, and social life, all of which will be demonstrated and celebrated during this program. At Al Shindagha Museum we delved into Emirati ingenuity and resourcefulness in the Summer Blessings weekend event and encourage guests to immerse themselves in diverse events centered around the palm tree, including art exhibitions, traditional crafts, culinary workshops, date plate decoration, and more. Guests were able to discover how the palm tree influences every aspect of the Emirati culture.

Eid

Eid Al Fitr at Al Shindagha Museum aimed at showcasing Eid celebrations and Eid traditions of the UAE. The aim was to provide engaging programming for Emirati families as well as opportunities for international visitors to learn more about Emirati culture. The main attraction for this celebration was for visitors to embark on a trail to learn about the houses, and collect Eidiya, the traditional money that is given to younger family members on Eid. The map/brochure and the Eidiya money that was collected acted as a collectible item and a souvenir of the visitors’ time at Al Shindagha Museum. .

Sikka

Dubai Culture’s flagship initiative, Sikka Art & Design Festival, celebrated 12 years of remarkable creativity and inspiration in 2024. Artists from the UAE and all over the GCC came together to decorate Al Shindagha Historic District with works that speak to the future and orchestrate a visionary experience. Taking place amid the paved alleys of the city’s most storied district, the Sikka Art & Design Festival comes alive each year through exhibitions, installations, poetry nights, musical performances, workshops and thought-provoking films. Stay tuned to know more about the amazing initiatives planned for the 2025 edition.

Key Contribution:

  • Concept & Planning: Developed the concept of an interactive tour at Al Shindagha Museum, allowing children to participate in a traditional Hag Al Leila experience.
  • Interactive Tour: Guided children through the Freej, where they collected sweets from “Al Shindagha residents” while learning about the tradition, singing songs, and hearing stories.
  • Promotion & Marketing: Ensured the event was well-publicized and marketed to attract families and engage the community.
